First Lady Fashion

October 14, 2012

With the presidential election right around the corner, there’s a key debate that is always televised but doesn’t always make the news; fashion.  First Lady Michelle Obama is up against Ann Romney in a style war sure to catch the public’s eye.

As anyone who has ever worn oversized sunglasses or a cardigan set knows, a First Lady’s fashion choices are not taken lightly. In her four years as Mrs. President, Michelle Obama has made her mark with her powerful yet feminine style.  She opts for pretty prints and colorful sheaths that show off her signature toned arms. She’s outspoken about her budget-conscious wardrobe; she recycles pieces frequently and has been spotted in affordable styles from brands like J. Crew, H&M and Ann Taylor. And who could forget the beautiful white gown she wore for the Inaugural Ball that put American designer Jason Wu on the map?

It’s hard to predict what kind of trends Ann Romney would inspire as First Lady.  After sporting an appalling leather and lace outfit on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Mrs. Romney (or her stylist) seems to have turned over a new leaf. Although she seems most comfortable in a button-down shirt and cropped pants, Ann’s making bolder choices with her outfits on the campaign trail. She’s been spotted looking super chic in head-to-toe cream and showing off a dynamite shoe collection.

Who will win the title of most stylish First Lady? We’ll have to wait until November 6 to find out!
