NYC Thrifting

October 22, 2012

For the past few seasons, fashion trends have been increasingly unique as a combination of the avant-garde and antique. Postmodern fashion encourages a pastiche of high and low brands with outfits that pair items such as designer jackets with a no-name dress. With this new trend, shoppers have been flocking to the thrift stores! Two of these stores are Goodwill and Beacon’s Closet. At Goodwill, you can get some very cool looks for extremely low prices. Many Goodwills sell their clothes by the pound! The best part about picking out your Goodwill outfit is that no one else will have it. Unlike shopping at a store with mass-produced clothing, Goodwill has unique outfit options. Beacon’s Closet, although a little more pricey, is a New York thrifting favorite! Here you can find vintage frocks mixed with brands such as Manolo Blahnik and Miu Miu. Make sure you have time to dig through the enormous racks and you’re sure to find a treasure! Have fun thrifting!
