Hurricane Sandy in NYC

October 30, 2012

Stores closed early throughout New York City Sunday night in preparation for Hurricane Sandy. The monster storm threatens our city with high winds, heavy flooding, and unexpected snow. The lines at the grocery stores were crazy Sunday afternoon as New Yorkers stocked up on water and food. Even longer than the grocery store lines were the lines to get out of the city. As cars crowded the West Side Highway and various bridges during the mass exodus, the city truly looked like a scene from Batman, Gotham City. In preparation for Halloween, New York has turned into a ghost town. However, for those of us staying and weathering the storm, this is a great time for some crafting! Now you have an excuse to catch up on your favorite fashion magazines that have been piling up over the busy weeks. Also, clean out your closet and take a glue gun or sewing kit to any tired, worn-out pieces in your wardrobe. Most importantly, be safe! I’ll see you back out on the streets when all the stores re-open!
