Top 5 Fashion Moments of 2012

December 31, 2012

2012 was a great year for the fashion world. As it winds to a close today it’s time to look back at our favorite fashion moments—what inspired us, what made a comeback, and what started the trends that carried us through the year. Here’s a countdown of what we consider to be the top 5 fashion moments of 2012.

5. Angelina’s right leg certainly stood out in Versace at the Oscars in February. Not only did it inspire its own Twitter handle @AngiesRightLeg, but it also gave way to a plethora of thigh high splits on the runways.

4. Gwyneth Paltrow stunned us in Tom Ford at those same Oscars, oozing sophistication and old Hollywood style with cape! Not only did the all-white ensemble stand out against the red carpet but it kicked off a monochromatic trend for the year.

3. Miley Cyrus create quite the buzz (pun intended) on Twitter when she tweeted this picture of her radical new ‘do. It represents a series of celebrities rocking a shorter haircut including Rihanna and Anne Hathaway. These chic ladies made the boy-cut cute again.

2. The boys came out to play in 2012 in sleek suits and skinny ties.  Blame it on Mad Men’s growing popularity or the premiere of the latest James Bond but the men are stepping it up. 2012 gave us sharply tailored suits, complete with tapered legs and shorter lengths.

  1. The Duchess of Cambridge certainly has her finger on the style pulse of England and has captured our fashionable hearts here across the pond.  Kate Middleton’s solidified her spot as a major fashion icon with her slew of chic outfits worn while celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
